Modest Mouse Drummer Loses Cancer Battle
Modest Mouse drummer Jeremiah Green passed away at the age of 45 following a battle with cancer.
Green was one of the founding members of the renowned American rock band Modest Mouse.
His death on New Year’s Eve comes just a month after his mother Carol Namatame confirmed he had stage four cancer.
Modest Mouse reported his terrible demise on social media.
They wrote: “I don’t know a way to ease into this: Today we lost our dear friend Jeremiah.
“He laid down to rest and simply faded out,” they added.
“I’d like to say a bunch of pretty words right now, but it just isn’t the time.
“These will come later, and from many people,” they continued. “Please appreciate all the love you give, get, have given, and will get.
“Above all, Jeremiah was about love. We love you.”
Although the details of his condition remain unknown, vocalist Isaac Brock stated earlier this week that the artist had been “diagnosed with cancer a short while ago.”
Modest Mouse, an American rock band, was founded in 1992 in Issaquah, Washington, but eventually moved to Portland, Oregon.
It was started by drummer Jeremiah, guitarist and lead singer Isaac, and bassist Eric Judy.
The band’s roster changed often throughout the years, but Jeremiah and Isaac remained constants.
They started rehearsing under a shed in the early 1990s, and it was only two years later that they recorded their first album with the small-town independent label K Records.
This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About, the band’s first album, was released in 1996.
In 2004, the hits from their fourth album, Good News for People Who Love Bad News, such as Float On and Ocean Breathes Salty, were commercially successful.
In 2006, guitarist for The Smiths Johnny Marr and drummer for Black Heart Procession Joe Plummer both joined the group.
Eric, meanwhile, played bass on every Modest Mouse album up until his departure in 2012.
